Summary
Among the huge diversity of BEV architectures, more and more platforms include two e-Drive systems.
The use of two e-Drives add a 4WD capability, a redundancy of the powertrain in case of failure of one system and also flexibility in energy delivery as the global power is increased.
The presentation proposes to compare powertrains with one and two e-Drives in terms of efficiency on different driving cycles. In case of 2 e-Drives, a comparison of different e-motors for the secondary axle will be presented. Electrically excited synchronous machine (EESM) versus Induction Machine and permanent magnet PMSM with and without disconnect. An analysis of the energy split optimization between e-Drives will be presented for the 2 e-axle version.
The presentation will be followed by Valeo Powertrain Electrified Mobility Road Map for e-Motors and electronics in High Voltage products for e-mobility in the future.
