Summary

In the current discussions on mobility, the electrification of the drive train is frequently seen as a panacea for all future requirements. In contrast, the “old” consumption concept of the diesel engine is credited only with a slight chance for the future. Beside the demand for CO2 reduction and local emission-free driving, however, there is a whole range of requirements regarding future mobility, whereby automobile diesel engines can be viewed in an altogether more differentiated manner. BMW is very active in all fields of mobility, and can at present record great success on the market with its diesel engines.
