Summary
As part of the joint platform development of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), Audi and Porsche have jointly developed a modular electric drive system that will power the future models of both brands. The development and industrialization of the platform was carried out in a joint cross-company organization and using the full expertise of both brands.
In order to meet the requirements of fully electric premium vehicles in the second half of the 2020s, the current axle drive technologies will be significantly enhanced. The main focus here was on a scalable electric axle modular system with optimal acoustics, high integration, efficiency and power density. Taking weight, energy consumption and power variance into account, it was possible to develop an overall optimum for a platform with a wide range of requirements.
The detailed technical content and functional performance of the drivetrains is benchmark in the competitive environment and is presented in detail for the first time in this publication.
