Summary
As part of our Way To Zero strategy to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, Volkswagen is focused on the continuous further development of the electric drive as a key component of electric mobility. In 2020, the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) powered by the APP310 (permanent magnet synchronous machine with the drive and gearbox parallel to the axles and a maximum torque of 310Nm) drive in the ID.3 model was launched and laid the foundation for Volkswagen's electric mobility offensive.
To strengthen our competitiveness, we are constantly developing the MEB platform in order to convince more and more customers of our e-vehicles and to bring e-mobility to the wider society.
In 2026, the evolution of the APP310, the APP350 will drive our latest vehicle models as part of the Volkswagen strategy “Accelerate”. The focus of this further development is on the energy consumption of the e-drive. For instance, by exchanging the interface-neutral APP350 for the APP310 in the ID.4, a range gain of up to 40km can be achieved. Furthermore, the consumption in the WLTP cycle drops to 63% of the APP310 reference value.
