Summary

A long leading and save energy supply for individual mobility needs, in addition to the most economical use of fuels, a diversification in the medium and long-term energy sources used for generating fuel. This necessitates especially the integration of alternative and regenerative energy sources. Synthetic, liquid fuels play a major role in this, as they enable the use of a multitude of diverse primary energies for generating fuel. In the same time synthetic fuels like SynFuel and SunFuel offer, based on their pure quality and designability, large potentials for emission reduction. Those benefits can be classified into three classes. 1. direct reduction of local emission levels in using those fuels in standard engines. 2. further emission reduction in developing new combustion processes based on those fuels. 3. huge CO2 emission reduction by the usage of biomass as primary energy for synthetic fuels. Synthetic fuels offer the most economic solution for the simultaneous reduction of fuel consumption local emission and CO2 emissions, so give a major impact to sustainable mobility.
