Summary

Hybrid technology is one of the key technologies for coping with changing future requirements in the aera of individual mobility. This technology is already being used in small, mid-size and executive vehicles and is perceived by the public as environmentally friendly. To date, no hybrid drive concepts suitable for mass production have been available for sports cars, such as the Porsche 911. A 911 race car with an additional electric drive train was therefore developed at Porsche Motorsport. This project’s aim was to ascertain the hybrid drive train’s potential for use in sports cars, to test it in a race environment and to demonstrate its capabilities.
