Summary
The transformation to an all-electric mobility is becoming more complex and volatile due to different worldwide regulations and customer requirements. In order to meet these requirements Audi focusses on a widespread powertrain portfolio that contains Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) as well as new modular Plug-In Hybrids and highly efficient electrified combustion engines.
In 2024 Audi started to renew its models using conventional and hybrid powertrains based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC). The platform includes systematically developed combustion engines including the R4 TFSI with lowest power for the Chinese market, the R4 TDI and V6 TDI for the European market and the V6 TFSI Power-Hybrid as the high-performance engine designed for the RS segment.
An effective reduction of CO2 can be achieved by electrifying these drives using modules like the 48 V MHEV plus technology, the PHEV 2.0 system or the all-new Audi quattro with Dynamic Torque Control, which integrates electromechanical torque vectoring. At the same time a power range from 110 to 470 kW and an electric range of up to 110 km (WLTP) is realized.
By intelligently combining the hardware and software modules, different worldwide regulations and customer requirements can be fulfilled. The presented platform strategy guarantees an attractive lifecycle and a highly flexible positioning of electrified ICE powertrains by Audi on the way to an all-electric mobility.
