Summary
The turbocharged flat-six engines were completely redesigned for the new generation of the Porsche 911 Carrera. The focus of development was to further enhance performance, efficiency and emotion. In addition, an emphasis was placed on upgrading the aftertreatment of exhaust gas to meet future, worldwide emissions standards. A typical flat engine sound, very good responsiveness and a broad engine speed range underline the driving performance and sportiness. Efficiency benefits from a newly developed combustion process as well as a redesign of the oil circuit and auxiliary systems. Major changes to the intake and exhaust gas sections also make a significant contribution.
The new flat engines continue to underline the core competencies of the Porsche 911 brand – sportiness combined with everyday usability – and are an important factor in the successful transition of the Porsche 911 into the new decade.
