Summary

BMW is currently introducing the new six- and four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engines with High Precision Injection into the European markets. The spray-guided 2nd generation direct-injection combustion system with centrally positioned, outward opening piezo-injector eliminates the disadvantages of the wall-/airguided 1st generation DI combustion systems and realises the thermodynamic potentials of the stratified operation into customer-relevant benefits for fuel consumption and dynamics.
