Summary
With the new 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG®) Volkswagen presents two world premieres. On one hand the first 7-speed gearbox for front transverse installation, and on the other the first dual clutch gearbox with “dry” dual clutch. The gearbox is designed for torque levels up to 250 Nm and for use in the compact class and, a further world premiere, as well as for vehicles of the small vehicle segment. As a design feature, the dry dual clutch has considerable effects on the overall gearbox concept. It allows an even greater degree of efficiency, compared with the 6-speed dual clutch gearbox currently available from Volkswagen, and thereby makes a noticeable contribution towards reducing fuel consumption and emissions of new vehicle concepts.
