Summary
Based on the six-cylinder diesel engine introduced on the market in 2015 as part of the new BMW modular engine platform, BMW has now developed a top-end variant and will offer it in the upper market segment in various vehicles. In addition to a range of measures applied to the basic engine in order to harness the higher mechanical and thermal forces, a highlight of the new engine is a completely newly developed innovative turbocharging system. The combustion process, fuel injection technology and exhaust after-treatment were also consistently further developed.
