Summary

Geely Powertrain Research Institute and CEVT Powertrain Engineering have developed a high voltage hybrid powertrain for application in various brands of the Geely Holding group. By using the modularity built into the 3-cylinder engine and electrified 7DCT transmission families, Geely has been successful in developing a full hybrid powertrain in very short time. For this application a new combustion engine  derivative was developed as well as a dedicated battery. The resulting HEV powertrain is combining competitive fuel consumption, drivability and NVH.

The paper shows details how the HEV Powertrain was developed using systems engineering through a combination of simulation tools and calibration work in test bed and vehicle. The HEV Powertrain was launched in Shanghai Auto Show in May 2019 and the market introduction will be during 2019 on the Chinese market.
