Summary
The automotive industry is intensely working towards developing highly and fully automated vehicles, and the next few years will see the first of these functions being launched in the market. The complexity of the overall activity poses a great challenge for the development of systems as regards the time and cost required for the development. Furthermore, there is also the task of obtaining wide market acceptance.
This presentation provides a description of a new test and simulation method in which the automated functions can be experienced in all the phases of development. The core here is a procedure for an objective Realtime assessment of the driver’s experience in respect to safety, as well as the perceived safety and comfort. The accuracy of the relevant traffic and vehicle simulation was also adapted in order to enable its use in virtual development.
The integration of this procedure in the development process of highly automated systems makes it possible to define objective targets, as well as facilitates a close cooperation between the testing and simulation methods, including virtual and real application and validation. When used in agile development, the procedure enables virtual verification and validation of more than 100 million kilometres driving situations per week.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
