Methodical Reduction of CO2 Emissions Considering Vehicle and Fleet Targets

Authors

Dr. Michael Martin, Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik AG & Co KG, Graz

Summary

The reduction of the CO2 emissions or the fuel consumption of vehicle fleet targets is one of the biggest challenges for the automotive development in the future. Considering the competiveness the improvement of CO2 emissions of new vehicles requires an optimum selection of technologies. Therefore, not only costs need to be considered but also interactions and target conflicts focusing on complete vehicle development and so other vehicle attributes. The resulting question to be solved within this work is which technology shall be implemented in which vehicle to ensure CO2 fleet emissions, other vehicle attributes and optimum costs. A method combining simulation and a novel optimization algorithm will be used for solving the task.
