Summary
In modern motor vehicles, chassis bushings must fulfil a large number of functional properties. These functional properties are derived from the full vehicle properties, for example the driving dynamics, vibration comfort, acoustic and durability. In order to be able to make statements about the installation space and the degree of fulfilment of functional properties at an early stage of component development, design methods are required. For this purpose, analytical calculation approaches for the design of the static radial, axial and torsional stiffness in the linear range were developed. With the aid of an energy approach, the geometry and the material-dependent shear modulus, based on the Shore hardness, are related and used for the calculation of different types of chassis bushings.
