Summary

With its Audi Agenda strategy, Audi has decided on a clear long-term path towards all-electric mobility. An important step in this process is the powertrain specific platform strategy, through which individual model series are tailored to their respective powertrain.

For the last generation of Audi vehicles with conventional and partially electrified drives with longitudinally mounted engines based on the so-called PPC (Premium Platform Combustion), the in-line four-cylinder gasoline engines of the EA888 engine family has been further developed to a new evolutionary stage. The main motivation was to comply with future legal emission limits with a moderate increase in performance and improved comfort, with a clear focus on a wide range of applications in different Group platforms. The ability to manufacture the engine in the VW Group's global production network with production facilities in Europe, China and North America also plays an important role. The 2.0-litre TFSI engine in performance classes 1 and 2 starting with its series production at Audi in 2024 will be presented in its most important features and technical details.

The new EA888evo5 R4 TFSI engines will be offered for worldwide applications in conventional powertrains, in combination with a 48V mild hybrid system (powertrain generator) or as a plug-in hybrid.
