Summary

The 2,0 l 4-cylinder diesel engine is one of BMW’s leading products in the European market, with annually more than 300.000 units placed in almost every vehicle product line including 5 series and X3. BMW has now launched a completely new engine design fulfilling requirements for considerable consumption and emission reductions as well as strengthening the top position in this power train segment. New concepts of the basic engine include the aluminium crank case with integrated balancing shaft with height offset and the positioning of the chain drive at the rear.
