Summary

The electrification of the automobile is progressing fast and is changing the architecture of future vehicles tremendously. This trend is a result of the need for higher vehicle efficiency and the desire to diversify the energy sources used for transportation. General Motors offers a wide portfolio of solutions for vehicle electrification to meet the expectations of customers. Micro-hybrid systems for engine stop-start will become a standard solution for many market segments. Mild and strong hybrid systems together with optimized combustion engines enable the next level of propulsion system efficiency. Plugin hybrids offer the possibility to supplement the energy in the fuel with energy from the grid.
