Summary
In 2015, Hyundai Motor Company with its brands Hyundai and Kia will introduce the first 3-cylinder Kappa 1.0L T-GDI engine to the European market. It features highly efficient combustion and dynamic performance to fulfill Hyundai-Kia's dedication to implementing downsizing as a fuel saving technology. The new Kappa 1.0L T-GDI engine has been developed especially with a downsizing concept for fuel efficiency in the mid and high load area. This satisfies fuel economy requirements not only in NEDC mode but also in real road driving without sacrificing performance. A Turbo Charger with electric waste gate actuator improves fuel efficiency by lowering pumping losses as well as improving transient response and low-end torque. Split cooling of the cylinder head and block with an optimized cooling design suppresses the knock tendency and results in fuel economy improvement. An integrated exhaust manifold expands the lambda 1 control area by lowering exhaust temperature for improved high speed fuel economy. Also, to meet upcoming stringent PN emission regulations, we have focused on improving the GDI fuel injection system with advanced laser drilled injectors, 200bar fuel pressure and a sophisticated injection strategy by a lot of simulation and optical combustion analysis.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
