Summary
In 2024, AUDI launched the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) for the latest generation of our model series with conventional powertrains and plug‑in hybrids. This includes the successors to the Q5 and A6 models, which – with modern engines – will continue to contribute to our company’s success for many years to come. In 2025, the available powertrain portfolio was expanded with the latest evolutionary stage of the V6 TDI, thereby completing more than 30 years of Audi TDI development history.
The main motivation and driver behind evolution stage 4 of the V6 TDI was the advancement of engine technology while simultaneously adapting and optimizing the engine for operation within the PPC’s MHEV plus powertrain. The available 48 volt technology enables a technological leap across both the overall drivetrain and the engine itself, empowering the new V6 TDI with driving dynamics, emissions, and consumption characteristics not previously achieved. This evolution of engine technology, in close interaction with the revolutionary MHEV plus powertrain of the PPC platform, is described in this conference paper.
