Summary
Since 2017 Aurobay Technologies has started the development for hybrid powertrain system, aim at “New Four Pillars of the Powertrain Future" strategy, including Powertrain Efficiency Enhancement, Drivetrain Electrification, Control Intelligence, and Energy Diversification. The BHE15 EVO engine is a hybrid-dedicated power unit refined after several generations over nearly a decade. Compared with its predecessor, the BHE15, it achieves an absolute increase of 2% in thermal efficiency, resulting in an overall thermal efficiency as high as 43.5%, with maximum torque reaching 230 Nm and maximum power up to 100 kW. When applied in the same vehicle, it contributes to a 5.1% reduction in fuel consumption.
To realize higher efficiency, more compact packaging, lighter weight, and improved cost effectiveness, the BHE15 EVO incorporates a range of advanced technologies. These include an ultra-high compression ratio of 15.5, a long-stroke design, a strong Miller cycle, low-pressure EGR, a "Flow Master" combustion system, multiple friction-reduction measures, a high-efficiency turbocharger, an intelligent cooling system, integrated and lightweight construction, and virtual sensors.
The BHE15 EVO engine is already deployed in several models from Geely Auto, and its excellent performance has gained wide market recognition. Its first application was in the Galaxy M9, a full-size six-seater SUV. The front-wheel-drive version, equipped with the EM-P powertrain system based on the BHE15 EVO engine and a 3DHT transmission, delivers a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.3 seconds and a charge-sustaining fuel consumption of 5.6 L/100 km in WLTC cycle, even with a curb weight of 2.4 tons.
