Summary

While the diesel engine has become an alternative in Europe, in the USA the gasoline engine is still the dominating propulsion system. The rising oil price as well as the increasing environmental awareness push the demand for less fuel consuming cars in the US. This report tries to answer the question which alternative - Diesels or gasoline-hybrid - has the largest potential to become generally accepted in the american market. Apart from the technical aspects this report also deals with the different expectations of american customers compared to european customers.
