Summary
FPT Industrial is a brand of CNH Industrial, dedicated to the design, production and sale of powertrain solutions. Since the 1990s FPT Industrial has developed natural gas engines (2.8 l and 9.5l engines) based on stoichiometric combustion system. The main driver for this technological choice was to offer ultra-low emissions (EEV), low noise and high efficiency that are predominantly targeted for urban applications. From 2004, FPT Industrial converted its engine base architecture by applying natural gas technology to Cursor 8 (7.8l) NEF6 (6l) and F1C (3l) engines, offering a complete line-up for bus and city trucks. In 2016, FPT Industrial put the Cursor 9 natural gas into production. It is the first FPT natural gas engine aimed at long haul transport and offers outstanding performance and fuel consumption. A full technical description and performance data for the Cursor 9, in respect of its predecessor, the Cursor 8, are available in the presentation. The Cursor 9 produces the same power and torque as the diesel version, in line with the FPT’s natural gas development strategy.
