Summary

Volkswagen has committed itself as a company to the targets of the Paris Agreement and the EU’s European Green Deal. The long-term goal is to have a carbon-neutral balance sheet by 2050. In order to achieve this, we have placed a systematic focus on electric mobility. The technical and economic backbone of the electric offensive is the modular electric drive matrix (MEB). This provides the platform for making electric vehicles accessible for as many people as possible. By 2028, it is planned that up to 15 million electric cars should be based on the MEB and that all-electric vehicles should account for 70 percent of sales in Europe by 2030. In order to ensure competitiveness and meet customer wishes, we are continuously developing innovations for both our MEB platform and its components. The diversification of the electric mobility portfolio is a significant driving force behind this. The latest development of the MEB platform is the “Performance” drive, which will be used in vehicles with high performance requirements.
