Summary

Driving impressions are based on multiple and very individual subjective perceptions. To fulfil the customer demands, it is helpful to find objective measures to quantify these impressions. Global objective parameters to rate the pleasantness and dynamic impression of vehicle interior noise are often used when benchmarking vehicles. Additionally the development and application of specific parameters to rate disturbing noises in the vehicle interior is described in this paper. These noises are e.g. knocking noise of Diesel engines, ticking noise of injectors or rattling and howling noise of gear trains.
