Impact of Electrification on the Internal Combustion Engine

Authors

Summary

In the next years the electrification will have a major impact on the powertrain of passenger cars. The application spectrum will range from simple start/stop systems over various kinds of hybrids up to the pure electric vehicle. The application of electric components influences the internal combustion engine (ICE) quite differently by: • direct engine design modifications • altered operation modes • changed component loads • less energy to be generated by the ICE.

Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
