Summary
With the latest generation of the 1350 cc premium powerpack, KTM brings the 75-degree V2 concept to the highest - never achieved - power densities with simultaneously more restrictive legal constraints. The presentation will include a brief review of the history of the V2 at KTM, as well as an explanation of the importance of mechanical and thermodynamic development and their close linkage. Furthermore, the cross-platform thermodynamic concept of the ‘Sport’ and ‘Travel/Offroad’ applications will be described in specific detail and presented in the context of virtual powerpack development - the characteristics of high-revving/high-performance motorbike engines and compliance with restrictive exhaust and noise limits with increasing ‘comfort requirements’ are the main development focuses of the latest generation of V2 units.
