Summary

As passenger cars usually offer the potential for high driving dynamics, the driver is the most significant factor influencing the Real Driving Emissions (RDE). Investigations of most actual production vehicles reveal enormous differences between a “moderate driving style”, which is characteristic for an average customer’s driving behavior, and possible “dynamic-aggressive” driving styles. A normalization of the driving style towards a statistically representative vehicle operation is essential. Such approaches are basically reflected in the idea of future RDE legislation, but not sufficiently developed yet.
