Summary
In recent years electro-mobility or e-mobility acquired a firm hold in the field of powertrain technology. Up to now the focus has been on passenger cars however this technology is also applied in commercial vehicles, CVs, and it is becoming apparent that it continues to spread. While the application of e-mobility in passenger cars is mainly driven by the upcoming CO2legislation, the most important factor for CVs is cost effectiveness, of which the most substantial part is fuel economy. There is still potential for increasing the efficiency of the engine itself, but this will only be possible in small steps, however especially in urban areas with a high number of vehicle stops and starts, the utilization of recuperated braking energy promises to yield very high fuel savings. The following article shows the impact on and potential of a hybrid diesel engine, in particular taking into account EuroVI emissions legislation.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
