Summary
Efforts to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs) are accelerating worldwide. In this paper, we will discuss what automobile manufacturers can do based on the lifecycle analysys (LCA), powertrain mix ratios and energy situation in each region of the world. The most effective powertrain to reduce CO2 emissions in each region is expected to be different. What should be done to prevent global warming is to flexibly supply practical and optimal powertrains according to the circumstances of each region and to promote energy management using batteries of electrified vehicles such as BEVs and PHEVs.
