Summary

In addition to the components, the operating strategy is significant for the determination of efficiency of hybrid vehicles. At present, operating strategies are rule-based, defined on the base of current, locally available state variables. Estimations taken in advance are used as a base for the definition of rules. Consequently only suboptimal fuel consumption savings can be reached. Hence, there is a necessity to oversize certain components to provide sufficient power. This leads to higher system costs and increased energy consumption. This paper introduces a predictive operating strategy that makes additional fuel consumption savings in the real driving mode possible and increases the driving comfort. The strategy is based on the use of a-priori knowledge about the course of the road from navigation, Car2X, Car2Cloud and vehicle sensor data.
