Summary
The most significant challenges for the application of turbocharged GDI for fuel efficient downsizing / downspeeding concepts are:
• improved low end torque and transients
• reduced enrichment at high load
• enhanced part load efficiency
The attractiveness of such systems is determined by the relation between low end torque and BSFC at high load / peed. By the application of cam phaser, but especially with optimizing combustion systems, refined gas exchange and advanced turbocharger technology, a significant progress can be obtained.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
