Summary

In the research project Efficient Urban LIght VEhicles (EU-LIVE), funded by the European Union, three new L category vehicles are in development, based on a modular powertrain architecture. One objective of the project is the proof of the transferability of a modular powertrain to different vehicle concepts. This is achieved
by virtual development of an L6e passenger car concept, radically different to two scooter-like concepts all sharing the same powertrain. The design of the L6e concept is described in this paper. As the powertrain is supposed to be suitable for a broad
variety of light vehicles, the exterior of the L6e vehicle is chosen, based on the results of an open innovation design contest. On this basis and with as little design changes as possible, the concept is developed and evaluated.
