Summary
The drive towards reducing emission levels from diesel vehicle needs non conventional approach. To meet stringent emission levels such as Tier2 BIN5 on diesel vehicle will require hardware optimization, combustion optimization and huge efforts on exhaust after treatment. At Mahindra, efforts have been made to meet Tier2 BIN5 emission on 5250lbs (2381 kg) truck driven by a 2.2 Ltr I4 Diesel Engine. 1800 bar Piezo common rail system, High efficient EGR cooler, patented EGR mixer & low compression ratio reduce engine out emissions, while DPF and advanced SCR further reduce vehicle out emissions fulfilling useful life emission target of Tier2 BIN5.
