Summary

The automotive industry has reached noticeable reductions in fuel consumption and emission in the past. Conventional developments especially for gasoline- and diesel engines contributed in addition. Further large leaps are only possible with an integrated function-oriented total-vehicle approach. At the same time the understanding of the highly cross-linked energy fluxes is crucial for developing new solutions. The sole CO2 reduction however promises no market success yet. The BMW approach is therefore the connection of CO2-reduction with emotional driving pleasure. BMW has developed customized EfficientDynamicsTM-packages that are realized today successively for new models. In this presentation, the essential measures and its effects will be presented.
